Spring and sanitizer - why they go hand-in-hand

October 16, 2020 3 min read

Spring is most definitely in the air. Between the warmer days and the blooming gardens, you don’t have to look too far for a bit of inspiration after a long winter. It’s been a tough year that has tested the resilience of the nation, and the emerging sunshine shows hope for a new season. But now, more than ever, it’s important to be vigilant.

South Africa has been in lockdown since March 2020, and some people are becoming frustrated with the restrictions. But during this season symbolic of new beginnings, it’s important to keep your guard. Wear your masks, sanitize regularly, and look for ways to support those who are struggling.

COVID and South Africa

As of mid-October, 2020, South Africa is in lockdown level 1. Here are a few statistics to consider.

  • The total death toll is more than 18,000
  • The total number of cases is more than 690 896
  • The total number of tests conducted is more than 4,455,952
  • The recovery rate sits at approximately 90%
  • Banks have received more than 3,196,403 individual applications for financial assistance (granting assistance to 84% of applications)
  • Coronavirus can remain viable on plastic and stainless steel surfaces for up to 72 hours

Even though it may feel as though we’ve been enduring COVID-19 for a long time, we need to remain wise and wear our face masks. We also need to optimize our protection by sanitizing our hands regularly because COVID stays alive on surfaces for longer than you think.

COVID and the world

All around the world, countries are experiencing new spikes in the number of cases. For example, both the Netherlands and the Czech Republic have announced a two-week ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown where they are closing bars, restaurants, and cafes.

In an equally tragic instance, Japan has seen a spike in suicide numbers as COVID has had a dire effect on mental health.

Needless to say, the arrival of spring and the status of level one in South Africa does not mean that COVID is over.

Be wise and sanitize

Regular use of hand sanitizers is one way of remaining vigilant. Mzansi Beautiful sanitizers contain 70% alcoholand are produced at a local artisanal brewery in Woodstock, Cape Town. When the sale of alcohol was prohibited, they adapted and began to produce sanitizer made with indigenous herbs, spices and essential oils.

Every purchase of a Mzansi Beautiful sanitizer supports twolocal businesses. The sanitizers also include tea tree oil which possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antifungal properties.

The scented range includes different fragrances with equally valuable properties. Whether you’re looking for a scented sanitizer for your personal use, or are looking for a quality product to place in your home, guesthouse, school, shared space or business, Mzansi Beautiful sanitizers are perfect.

In addition to the plain tea tree option, there are additional scents available which include the following:

  • Cardamom and Coriander
  • Cape Fynbos and Juniper
  • Indigenous Wild Citrus

Mzansi Beautiful sanitizers

In addition to these wonderful, scented sanitizers, we all stock a range of teen-themed sanitizers, and fun kiddies sanitizers.

As valued customers, we want to make sure that you stay extra vigilant and safe during these uncertain times. That’s why we’re offering an incredible deal on our sanitizers. If you make a purchase of more than R250, we’ll include a free sanitizer in your order.

Once again, thank you for your continued support. We value and appreciate every one of our new and loyal customers. Make sure to follow us on social media for regular updates on the brand (which is undergoing its own spring transformation - so stay tuned).
